Our present available engines range from an ever reliable Romulus, a petrol 0-4-0 and 2 electric loco’s. The rolling stock consists of a pair of sit in coaches, some sit-astrides and a variety of permanent way wagons.
We operate on an oval of track of approx. 300 yards long the majority of which is at sea level but dips below mean sea level in a few places. This is probably unique in the United Kingdom except if you visit a mine.
Cambridge Model Engineering Society
The Cambridge Model Engineering Society welcomes you. The Society enjoys a quiet and peaceful location bordering fields on the south western edge of the city. The M11 is nearby (but not too close!) giving easy access from all directions. We run ground level steam, electric (and occasionally gas turbine) trains on 7in, 5in and 3in tracks and even smaller steam on a 32mm garden railway.
Peterborough Society of Model Engineers
Our Society, situated in Peterborough, UK, provides a meeting point for like-minded members and friends sharing an interest in Model Engineering, whether it is Steam Locomotives, Traction Engines, Boats, Aircraft or Tools. There are at present approximately 100 members and the last few years have seen a steady increase to this number. We have a permanent raised multi-gauge track, covering 3″, 5″ and 7″ gauges at just over 1100 feet in length, situated in a walled garden in the grounds of ‘Thorpe Hall’, a Sue Ryder Hospice.
